Tribute to Nelson Madhibha Mandela

by

There is no passion to be found playing small – in settling for a life that is less than the one you are capable of living.”

Today we have lost a global statesman,                                                                               Today is a dark day for Africa,                                                                                           Today we join South Africa in mourning ,                                                                        Today the world will stand still ,                                                                                            Today Mandela has rested.

Yes, you dedicated your life to the struggle,                                                                     The struggle of the commons,                                                                                                 The defender of the enclosure of the commons,                                                             You stood with your belief of the commons,                                                                   Rest in peace Mandela.

Nelson Mandela ; “During my lifetime I have dedicated myself to this struggle of the African people. I have fought against white domination, and I have fought against black domination. I have cherished the ideal of a democratic and free society in which all persons live together in harmony with equal opportunities. It is an ideal which I hope to live for and to see realised. But if needs be, it is an ideal for which I am prepared to die”

I remember in 1994 when ANC won the elections, I was in soweto and I witnessed the victorious change in atmosphere. He was an icon not for Africa alone but worldwide.
I respected his humanity, statesmanship and his ideology for A genuine africa. He was unique and irreplaceble.

Mandela taught us that the way forward, the ultimate road to freedom is to fight without going to war, to forgive and not to hate, to shake hands instead of kicking, and to be united and not divided. He worked for the good and the future of all of South Africa, for his land, his people and not just for himself. And by doing so, he inspired so many people, got their respect and history was made. The enclosures fell. And today South Africa is a proud nation, united and respected. He was a light and the world will miss him!
